ExpressionEngine

Warning: this entry is old. It may contain outdated information and may not reflect my opinion anymore.

After a year of [lightly] using Wordpress as a blogging software, I decided to switch to ExpressionEngine, a commercial blogging/cms software!

With that switch came a whole new design. Maybe not the cutest, but hey, I ain't a designer :P It should work ok on real browser (Firefox and Webkit based ones). Opera doesn't support rgba() yet and has no elegant hack so I left the box backgrounds clears. As for IE… should work OK on IE7, but probably ugly on IE6. I really don't care as IE6 is a big pile of sh*t and not a browser. And since it's (at last) disappearing from the planet …)

And I couldn't resist making a few custom EE modules like a Sphinx-based search system >:)

As a first impression, I have to admit that ExpressionEngine offers a lot in terms of flexibility. Not as easy as Wordpress to setup, but at least I can do what I want and control the HTML that gets output!

I also have to admit I almost decided to build a totally custom website using Django, but I've ultimately gone for a CMS instead.
